KWIBUKA, SE SOUVENIR (KWIBUKA, REMEMBER)
Filmforum Ludwig Ticketshop
Belgian-Rwandan basketball player Lia returns to Rwanda to join the national team. The journey takes her not only back to her homeland, but also to a painful family history. As a survivor of the 1994 genocide, she had been sent to Europe as a child. When she reunites with her estranged father, she learns that her brother Daniel’s death was never officially recorded. In her search for the truth, Lia encounters repressed memories, family silence, and the consequences of the genocide that are still felt today. A sensitive drama about memory, identity, and the difficult process of coming to terms with the past.
