NOTHING HAPPENS AFTER THE REVOLUTION & Live Music

Filmforum Ludwig   Ticketshop

While filming is overshadowed by production problems, the director feels torn between his work and the impossibility of returning to his homeland, Sudan, where a revolution is breaking out. Plagued by doubts about his film NOTHING HAPPENS AFTER THE REVOLUTION, he begins teaching his young daughter his native language. When his cinematographer leaves Egypt for Sweden and eventually informs him that he is ending the collaboration, the tone of the voice-over narration also shifts. It gradually expands into a contemplative reflection on exile, physical distance, grief, and the passing down of language and memory.
